Born and raised in the suburbs of Montreal 7 decades ago. Began playing with toy soldiers at 5 years. Started painting & converting at about 12 yrs and wargaming about 15 yrs. Never really stopped.
5 years in the Black Watch of Canada Cadets, 5 years at the Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean followed by 4 in the navy. 25 years with CPC in IT simultaneous with 23 years running a boarding kennel. Inherited my love of toy soldiers from my mother's father. Married with a pack of litle Italian Greyhounds and a cat. Prematurely retired and enjoying leisure to game, maintaining our 170 yr old farmhouse and just living.
Looks great Ross! I was expected a French victory here.
ReplyDeleteSo did I until the last couple of turns.
DeleteSo pleased the good guys won.
ReplyDeleteAlan Tradgardland
I try not to be biased and by the end I was sure they were going to lose, ( which is probably why the French got a bit slack with an open flank) but the Coalition got the 1st move for a change and then rolled an outrageous number of the 6's that had been missing much of the game, while the French seem to have used up all of their 5's&6's. Of course the British general was fond of telling the tale at dinners and parties of his clever maneuvers.
DeleteExciting fun. Next? Prince Valiant?
ReplyDeleteCould be! I need to come up with a scenario for them but if not next then soon.
DeleteA very enjoyable battle I must say, lovely collection and nice to see them on the table.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Mostly Prince August homecast with my own heads for the late 18thC and a few complete conversions from other sources, so rather dear to my heart.
DeleteA Scots Wha Hae indeed
ReplyDeleteAlas, Despite their desire to get stuck in, it was their bad luck to just fire a few long range shots to encourage the enemy gun across the river to pull back a little farther, and to frighten a few skirmishers into falling back over the bridge.
DeleteSeems like another good game. Always nice when the 'right' side wins of course!
ReplyDeleteI do try to be fair......
DeleteThanks for another good looking game. I love the figures and the amount of terrain looks to have added interest to the action. Which version of your rules are you using these days?
ReplyDeleteOops, I forgot to send this yesterday: Quick Play Horse& Musket Rules:

DeleteHmm, apparently my html is rusty. I'll send a copy and since I din't have any complaints, it'll soon be posted on my blog.
DeleteI enjoyed very much this game, thanks for sharing it Ross. It would be great if you post the rules you used
ReplyDeleteI have a page with current versions of my home rules and some old abandoned ones, but I've been having a frustrating time getting that page to reappear! Anyway, I finally worked it out and once again, there is now a page of links to rules. The link is up at the top right and needs more work now that it has reappeared.
DeleteThank you very much for posting your rules Ross!
