EXCERPT FROM APPENDIX 1 from Don Featherstone's Battles With Model Soldiers
(The book that got me started.)

"Nothing in these pages is a dictate, no word says you must or you shall do it this way. On the contrary, the book sets out from the very beginning to stimulate the reader to think for himself, and to use what he has read merely as a foundation for efforts and ideas which reflect his own temperament and character. Only in this way will he obtain maximum satisfaction from the hobby of battling with model soldiers."

Portable Post Postponed

My Monday test game of the Portable Wargame was postponed due to weather so I played a solo one instead.

The Boer War proves to be Portable.

I intended to write up a report and rules book review today but the day slipped away on various non-wargaming matters. Another storm day is forecast for Wednesday, including up to 3 hours of freezing rain and ice pellets, so if we don't lose power I should have time to write a battle report and review.

  1. Hi Ross,
A very interesting looking 1/72nd or 20mm Boer War battle. Whilst your enduring freezing contitions we've had bouts of 'heat waves' - temps up to 96degF+...cooler today (with rain). Look forward to your Portable Game report. Regards. KEV.

  2. Ross Mac,

I am left with a terrible dilemma. Hoping that the weather near you is bad enough to 'force' you into writing up your battle report, but not so bad that you cannot!

    All the best,
