Click on pictures for larger size. Depending on your machine, you can use your figures to enlarge or shrink the picture, or there may be a '+' on the picture which will expand again and allow you to slide the large picture to see all of it. Almost a century later and over 1,000 miles away ......

 ..... a passing hot air balloon snapped a picture of opposing Union and Confederation cavalry heading for an encounter.


I feel a battle coming on.

    1. Well, once a river is down, it tends to stay for a number of games, and the fields are painted on, but on top of that, I seem to have developed a liking for encounter games rather than pitched battles.

  4. I'll admit I quite like encounter games - possibly my competition background back in the 70s.

    1. Esp for solo games with rules that are A moves then B moves rather than written orders, (esp if dice or cards determines who moves first at the start of each turn so that things aren't always predictable,
