Getting Back To The 14 Square Wood

Its been a busy few days but I grabbed a minute to cut some bases, dab some paint on them and glue a bit of shrubbery around the edge.
Woods with trees....

Each block is divided into either two or four 3" squares. There is a line of bushes along one outside edge of each quadrant to make it easy to slide bases of 54mm troops in but still make it obvious that this is some sort of terrain piece. The trees have been left loose to make it easier to pack and to accommodate the placement of troops during a game.

....and without trees.
The squares are only indicated by brown areas but its easy to see which quadrant units are in.

Next big chore is to make a matching portable ground cloth to take to Huzzah!.

    1. By all means, its not exactly an original idea but if it was well, sharing ideas is one of the reasons for blogging about such things.

  2. I'm going to resist any quips about the the knight who say ni, demanding a shrubbery! I like the idea though and may adopt it if you don't mind.

    1. Not too big, not too small. By all means adopt it, not really my idea though.

  3. Eminently practical and appropriate as always.

    1. Thank you Mr. Kinch, they are. I've been trying to become more practical myself but have given up any hope every becoming appropriate.

  4. Looks good. Without the trees it could substitute as rough ground (maybe a churned up field, mud, or scrub brush area).

    1. I had a similar thought when looking at the photo. They look alot like the fields painted o my table but are move-able. I suspect I will be making more. Will probably do something similar for towns eventually.

  5. Ross, Ross, Ross, don't let others adopt your ideas, even if they aren't really yours, without demanding a royalty of some kind! Sure, it's pure hutzpah, but there are ample precedents: TSR Games, for example, tried to copyright "Hitler", and Games Workshop has sought the rights to pretty much every word found in the OED.

    Helpfully yours,

    Chris

    1. Oh I suppose but then I would have to excommunicate them if they didn't do it just like they were told. Seems a lot of bother really.....
