Spring! Spring and outdoor chores! But I've been making a little time for myself to paint.
Details and just a little shading next.

and slowly....
DeleteLooking good. I have wondered if it would be possible to convert the PA Highlanders to Gorham's Rangers in their Quebec uniforms, where they were wearing something akin to kilts. Victor Mays did some really nice illustrations of them and the light infantry in F Van Wyck Mason's book on the battle, which was one of my favorites when I was young.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I was digging around for pictures and more details and discovered that all of the period written descriptions are vague and inconsistent, and that not one piece of their equipment or clothing has been found to date. Either annoying or freeing, or both, depending on one's attitude. I used a mix of PA Russians in Summer dress and the Friecorps light infantry with short coats which I shortened a liitle more.
DeleteI did come across a bit about Gorham having recruited a number of First Nations warriors from what is New England etc, to join the rangers and fight their long time enemies the Mi'kmac etc. so, I'm including a couple.
