Another Slice of Cake Please

Just one of those busy, unfocussed, weeks but I've been thinking "What next?".

I have the urge to focus a bit so I can not only get some  progress done on the maps and back stories of my campaigns and improve and expand  the related terrain and get all the troops gussied up and looking sharp, but also tidy up the room and shelves. This implies cutting back on painting and gaming to find time and  reducing the collections make room for neatness.  Lets call this "Having the Cake".

Too much glare on these converted and refurbished 54mm Highlanders.
BUT..... I also have the urge to do more! Play some bigger games, get to some of those put-off-till-later things and play some different sorts of game. This then would be "Eating the Cake".

In the meantime I noticed a stand of 54's that had been primed before Huzzah but not painted so I did that today and thought about making some guys in turbans to go with them. Oh well.

  2. I'm all in favour of cake - the more the merrier. I like the highlanders - I recognise the Britains running and lying down chaps, because I had some as a youngster. Mine, though, had eyes, mouths and nice rosy cheeks - obviously applied with a very long-handled brush from the other side of a large room - so they are not completely the same. Probably just as well. The running one has a very fragile standing ankle, I recall. The hollow-cast casualties used to get internal splints improvised from a matchstick and some plasticene - didn't actually work, of course. Better for heads than feet...

    1. Oddly my running ones survived, it was their rifles that broke. One still serves. Anyway these guys actually have their Rosy cheeks and mouth, it's the glare from harsh spotlight on gloss that makes them look so pale. Better go check the eyes though, might have forgotten to dot them and there'll be hell to pay if they show up on parade with their eyes shut!
