....well....I'm not sure. Busy days ahead and when in doubt, paint. Back to the 1790's I think.
If I can coax one more heavy cavalryman and an officer out of the moulds, (hmm make that 2 cavalrymen given the shanks on that first horse) I'll balance the opposing cavalry forces. If not, I could use a second gun and crew and always, more infantry, especially more skirmishers for the French.
Good looking sculpts but I have not seen so many headless horsemen since building Redoubt ECW cavalry.
ReplyDeleteThese are 18C regulars, they're not supposed to think...
Delete(Perhaps pursuing a certain Officer Crane stationed near Sleepy Hollow?...)
ReplyDeleteIch! a bod!
DeleteShould paint up nicely indeed.
ReplyDeleteOnce I get enough bits cast up!
DeleteI think headless horsemen could be quite useful in AWI scenarios...
ReplyDeleteWasn't he supposed to be a Hessian? ...... hmm
DeleteThey don’t look very dangerous to me…
ReplyDeleteIn fact you might say… they are a bit armless 🤪
They're just do their best to get a..head.
DeleteI usually find a few castings after a session that slipped through quality control …
ReplyDeleteApart from the ones I miss, some I keep if its a difficult mould they look fixable or capable of being used for parts.
Deletegreat day at the casting table I see!
ReplyDeleteSeveral months ago but one of those days with more failures than successes.
DeleteThose are lovely casts.
ReplyDeleteCarefull selected from that day's labours, as were those that weren't thrown back in to "Do IT AGainn!".
DeleteI too struggled with these, however I have managed to cast a lot (50-60 of the trooper), but they were tricky and I had quite a few failures, the moulds need to be hot:
ReplyDelete- I struggled with the heels on the boots, in the end I accepted them and either painted on, or if keen built up in 'green stuff'.
- I accepted thinner than normal shanks provided they were strong enough - they look fine when painted.
- I ended up reducing the clamping force and accepting that I had to clean off more flash' which is reasonably easy to clean off.
Sounds familiar. The frustrating part for me was that after initial problems, I got the mould working fairly well and cast up my British cavalry. Then they sat for year..... a month or so ago, when I broke them out for the next unit, all of a sudden the troopers were reluctant and the officer down right determined not to be used so! Just haven't had time for another session. Too much not hobby stuff to do before winter really settles in.
