Preparing for the Fall Campaigning Season

"Yes, I know that I approved the order,  Willoughby, but still, I mean, it IS rather a bright yellow don't you think?"

"Never mind, it is very modern after all and as you say, in the Fall, the ripe grain fields can be quite yellow.   Should do very nicely. Well done........Now, explain to me again why you had them paint little targets on the side?."

  1. Ross Mac,

A very nice addition to your early twentieth century forces ... even if it has a rather bright colour scheme!

    All the best,

    Bob

    1. do like the feel and look of the diecast vehicles, have since my sandbox days. Its one of the joys of the smaller Scruby & Zinnbrigade 40mm to the top of the head that they fit quite well with 1/43 scale vehicles.

    1. I haven't ruled our that option, once I'm past the sticker shock and the "Ooh Shiny!" bit and get a chance to see it in action but I have an idea that the ones used in the Caucasus probably came through the Mesopotamia campaign and thus probably were yellow. Must have a look at some of the B&W photos.

  7. I reckon I could live with the eye-watering colour scheme and the bulls eyes on the sides. But if i couldn't, I'd try giving it painted on sepia wash. That would mute the colours nicely, I think.

    1. Might sorta spoil the glossy toy look though.

    2. That's true. Given the thing's excellent condition, I'd find that a bally hard decision.

  8. On the matter of the horses, that bonnet looks quite roomy. I reckon you could fit maybe 80 horses under there...

    1. If there'd been a colour option that might have been a hard choice.
