The story of the Battle Beneath the Tower has now been posted on the Gathering of Hosts blog.

This solo game which was set  in a fictional setting that originated in the 1970's, includes some of the first metal wargaming figures that I ever painted as well as vintage figures painted more recently such as the Garrison knights shown above.

  1. These look spiffing, and reminds me how many times I have looked and longed to do something with knights and splendid finery. I always daydreamed of doing the crusades because of all the mounted white knights. One of those subjects I thought about often, but always eluded my collection. These are darn excellent, Sir.

    1. Some of my oldest toys were knights, others were Guards in bearskins while others were Indians. Its a bit frightening to contemplate how these themes resurfaced after decades of 'serious' historical wargaming.

  2. That's a great looking image, Ross. It evokes the feel of hosts drawn up for battle and viewing the field of upcoming carnage.

  3. Hi Ross- I had a look at your other Blog Site with the Battle Report- very well done indeed. I'm thinking that your figures are 25mm? It is hard to tell- their size. Cheers. KEV.
