Where Are The Horses & The Riders? (sic)

 "They are mustering Lord."

Captain Theodora and her riders.
(
or Guinevere if memory serves...a stray  figure I picked up from the Wee Wolf booth at Huzzah! a few years ago.

"We shall be ready to ride to battle in 3 days."

The Horse Lord dresses for battle.

With 3 votes for Knights vs 1 for Prince Valiant, work has begun on preparing a Gathering of Hosts game.

The last GorH post (disregarding the brief report on an impromptu 1/72 game) was about a meeting to discuss a raid against the Eastern Midlands in retaliation for the Midlish raid on the Federation nearly two years ago. Now, we will find out how it fared.

I suspect that a Prince Valiant game will follow.

    1. The two painted riders in the background are 2 of my first Minifigs from back in 74.

    2. Of course, we used to interchange historical and fantasy Minifigs back in the day, but the round shields look like the Minifigs ME Rohirrim?

    3. That's them. My first metal cavalry, bought from the Minifigs stand at the Aldershot wargame tent in 1974!

  3. We are also playing a game set in the depths of ancient times with Amazons duking (Or is it duchessing?) it out with a legion of Early Imperial Romans. Quick questions: what rules will you be using and will you be painting the model of Theodora/Guinevere. You can use her as a wraith if you don't do any additional painting.

    1. I use my own 1 page rules: see Gathering of Hosts

Not paint? The last time I played with unpainted soldiers I was 8 or 9 thanks to Marx 25mm sets, Crescent, Herald, Britains etc :)

  4. The real question is, where is the horn that was blowing?

  6. A nice opener to the holiday season!

  7. Captain Theodora looks like just the part for a noble rider of Rohan. If Eowyn opened up the ranks for women to join.

    1. It was inevitable the HR departments to encourage female applicants. *Now* they're gonna' have to look after doubling the latrine stake-outs and perhaps curb the language at least a bit.

    2. Somehow I don't Middle Earth was quite ready for that. Luckily these from a different reality again.

latrines? language? What kind of civilized degenerates do you think we're dealing with? When you roam the steppes with your herds, you have to be one with nature.
