Ready For Service

Well, they're a little rough around the edges and a fair bit of detail is either rather shaky, simplified, just plain missing, or quietly painted over without cutting and filing, but as glossy toys, they're fine for my purposes and I'm happy to have these figures back in service.

Of course, this gives the Coalition forces 3 cavalry regiments to the Repulic's single one. I should probably respond by adding some French Cavalry in Bicornes.

    1. Oh I think it started 3 yearsago when the French recruited an Hussar unit.

    1. They do indeed, Seeing some painted in shiny toy soldier style caused a complete revolution in style for my armies.

  4. Nice glossy, shiny toys. Exactly what it says on the box, and more than fit for purpose. Simple as that. As for ability to fight - I'd need to see the cript before commenting on that!

    1. In context, I believe the question should be: "Can they roll?".

  5. Can't go wrong with crested helmeted cavalry for eye candy. I like the combination of the cream coat and white lace on the trumpeter: very elegant.

    1. I think this the only cavalry unit with Buff facings that I've ever painted. I rather like the look.

WHAAATT!?! You mean you're not painting your figures to museum-quality standards?!? Heaven forbid!
Does Warlord Games know about this?!

...But somehow we'll (temporarily) over look this ..........somehow.

    1. I've never painted to museum standards, most museum displays I've seen had really crude painting, aiming perhaps to reproduce the loss of detail when one is far enough away from the real thing to make the soldiers look small.

    1. I was rather happy to find a way to keep them on the table. And rather fitting since so many British immigrants served in 19thC US cavalry.
