Something New

Today's little project: turning a year old hunk of packing styrofoam into a cliff to hold a tower or coastal battery.
Trying it on for size,

I  have now finished carving  paths, adding a secret back entrance, patching holes, and adding a basecoat of grey.

Somewhere in the Mediterranean.

Tomorrow I should be able to shade and drybrush it, add some flock and generally get it ready to try out.

  1. Terrain projects like this are the sort of thing I always feel I should be doing but never get round to.

    1. This one came together really fast, less than 2 yrs from a freind giving me the stuff to me taking an hour to chop it up.

  2. I am impressed...I have a number of pieces of flotsam destined for similar conversions. Unlike you however I have yet to pull my proverbial finger out!

    1. It was in my way...... I suppose it'll still be getting in my way but at least it'll be off my toodo list.

  3. Hi Ross- Styrafoam certainly needs the services of the Vacuum Cleaner as it breaks into a thousand tiny pieces- very messy- but once done takes paint. Well done Ross on this Terrain Piece. Cheers. KEV.

  5. Impressive and imposing, yet keeping a relatively small footprint.

    1. That has become an important factor. It will dominate the table so I expect that it will only come out when it has a specific role in the game.

    1. The one in front was a slip of the knife which has been fixed but there is one around back.

  10. IIRC this looks perfect for the 'Viking Raid' scenario from Featherstone's 'Skirmish Wargaming' - did you have that in mind? I must now go and dig out my copy to see IIRC...

    1. I did skim through a friend's copy once but real skirmish games aren't my thing, diubky so solo, I just don't have the imagination but it will be used for semi-skirmish games. The Elastolin Prince Valiant guys are at the head of the queue to try it out.
