Somewhere in Lower Canada in 1813

Having sorted and put away my remaining ACW recruits for later, I  decided to set up a game, but what period to play?

Looking through the options,  I  remembered that I had two updated and refurbished 1812 units that had yet seen action in their new role. That was good enough for me.

A One Hour scenario on a 4x5 ft table with 2 Square Brigadier stands for each OHW unit to keep the proportions in line. Turn 1 has been played to get the Americans on the on the table.

Might get a chance to play Friday but Saturday is more likely.

  1. Good to see. (Spent a year in southern ON during 2017-2018 and re-visited several War of 1812 sites then.)

    1. One of my favourites is Crysler's Farm which is now at the bottom of the St Lawrence Seaway.

  2. 1812 has always intrigued me, but there's not enough cavalry ;)

    1. This is true; a veritable dearth of cavalry corps here in Boreal Americanas...and the precise reason cited by at least one fellow Calgarian Napoleonics fanboy who likewise refuses to countenance gaming ACW battles along with.
"Cavalry: not as clumsy or random as a cannonball; an elegant weapon for a more *civilized* age...."

  3. Hurrah…
It’s always nice to see your War of 1812 toys out on the table.

    All the best. Aly

  4. War of 1812 appeals to me precisely because there isn't much cavalry! I suppose one could add a little more for an 'alternate history' scenario...

    1. You would probably have to clear some of the trees from the battlefield if you wanted to use them! Mind you, in the western theatre, the US managed to muster a thousand mounted militia riflemen who charged mounted at the Thames River.

  5. Nothing beats a nice game of the War of 1812. Love to see when your figures come out on the table and to see what scenario you've cooked up.

    1. Didn't do much cooking on this one, pretty much straight from One Hour Wargames.
