I've made another attempt at writing some quick play rules that will allow me to get through some of the larger or more complex scenarios that I want to play (or run at a Con ) lasting at least 3 hours but not more than 4 hours.
End of Turn 1. |
I figured that replaying the last scenario which was over in about an hour after playing less than 1/2 the maximum number of turns would be a good test for the new rules.
To be continued...
One can rarely go wrong with playtests(!).
ReplyDeleteEven if they go badly they have done their job.
DeleteAwaiting further information with interest.
ReplyDeleteWhen the hurley burley's done....
DeleteShorter's less of a problem, though, for cons I would think? Worst case, players swap sides and replay?
ReplyDeleteWell, based purely on experience, generally having to call a hard fought game after 4 hours generally goes over better with players than having signed up for a 4 hour time slot and having it end in a one-sided disaster in an hour. Some people will hang around and play again, many will drift.
DeleteHowever, in current circumstances, its likely to be a solo game and generally the player is unimpressed when a game took longer to set up than it did to play. Refights are generally only welcomed if there has been a rules tweak or rewrite due to a perceived failure or if a better plan comes to mind.
