Interruptions Always Interruptions

The first couple of turns have been played, reinforcements  have begun to appear, and Federation scouts are discovering that the recent rains have raised water levels leaving few practicable fords.

Then "real" life intervened...sighh.....the game will continue!

  2. At least things have not been left on a Flash Gordon style cliffhanger…

  5. Always interruptions but at least you have a pleasing table display to study until gaming resumes.

  6. What type of tabletop are we looking at? It looks like "contoured" bundles of beach towels or socks (or something) beneath an overlaying painted canvas?

    1. Close. A painters drop sheet which was hand painted a bit over a decade ago, with painted on roads etc a few years ago. It has been draped over various shapes of 1" pine boards.

      Fairly Old School.

    2. Nah, looks good. Nice stream/river effect. And probably reasonably fast to gather up after the game.

    3. Are your saying Old School never looks good? :)

The old books or wood under cloth to make hills goes back at least to the early 60's and probably older. The old Marx 25mm painted hard plastic figures play sets in the 60's used to come with a printed paper terrain to play on. Old School!!

    4. Honestly, it's the stream that caught my eye. Somebody did a damned fine paintjob, there. Sure, I've laid felt over Geohex, but it's stream (and gulleys, gulches, and ditches) that always has me scrambling and scratching my head. [Editor: ...And britches!] It's the streams that's got me wheels churning.

    5. Well, considering it was first painted in '97, its not looking so bad for its age, even allowing a couple of touch ups so I'll pass on the complement next time I see the somebody in the mirror. :)

    6. ...And they say modern, visual, face-to-face communication over distances only came into existence in the modern age. p'Shaw!

  7. Oh, the effrontery of Real Life... The table looks quite nice, though.

  8. Compared with the effort I put in on the cloth... oh, wait a minute, usually shop bought single colour cloth or the carpet tiles glued down on top of my table... have to admit to a certain jealousy over other people's far better way of doing the ground...

    1. Its a question of necessity. Started when I had to fly to a convention taking terrain and figures. Had to find away to minimize luggage and fragility! Lack of storage at home only supports the approach.

    2. My current cloth came from having a wife does a lot of crafting with fabrics.
“Baize cloth you say? Green you say?”...

  9. Rising waters intervene on the table, the "real world" intrudes on the game--life imitates art... or is it t'other way around (I get confused nowadays)
