For My Next Act

Reaching into my hat I pull.....

40mm mostly Prince August homecast bodies with my original heads.

..... 4 of the old regular army and 4 of the new "Les Bleus". These will bring the other two battalions of my demibrigade up to their new strength of 16.

  1. Good to see the white Ceramcoat acrylic. I only have a few bottles from that era. Gotta' be ~30 years old.

    1. Long my favourite acryllic and once so easy to find. I have some no more than 10 years old. I miss them. Last year I found a new source but now they are no better than the $store ones at 2-3 times the price. Its a shame.

  2. You must have amassed quite a large number of figures now for the Revolutionary Wars. Is there a chance of seeing them en masse?

    1. Only a few added since the Christmas game but there are plans to get them in action in a few weeks time. I'm busy making the existing units slightly larger rather than adding more units since my table at home isn't big enough for convincing big battles with 40's.

  3. Nice looking figures, Ross. Two questions, based on what Brusilov said above, do you use said Ceramcoat for your primer? And what size washers are you using for bases? I have some 40mm FIW figures awaiting me at home. Some have been partially painted, some are raw metal, only a small few have bases.

    1. I use craft acrylics as a primer, have for decades now. Sometimes mix it with matte acryllic varnish when I have it.

The washes are 1" wide (not how they are labelled in the hardware stores). I used to prefer either a smaller washer or a rectangular one if using singles but these are being collected to fit in with Rob Dean's 40mm FR collection and he uses the 1" so I am conforming. They do fit the depth of the figures better and are more stable. The semiflat figures look wide apart to me for cloase order but very practical and I'm now happy with them.

  4. Certainly seem to be getting with this lot. And yes, it would be nice to see them all together.

    1. My Christmas game saw them all on the table but I'll have a parade when I get the in progress reinforcements done.
