The weather was too good to not stage another outdoor game. Blueclad Rebels vs the Redcoats of the Dominion.
Red vs Blue seemed appropriate for the day. More to come.
Born and raised in the suburbs of Montreal 7 decades ago. Began playing with toy soldiers at 5 years. Started painting & converting at about 12 yrs and wargaming about 15 yrs. Never really stopped.
5 years in the Black Watch of Canada Cadets, 5 years at the Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean followed by 4 in the navy. 25 years with CPC in IT simultaneous with 23 years running a boarding kennel. Inherited my love of toy soldiers from my mother's father. Married with a pack of litle Italian Greyhounds and a cat. Prematurely retired and enjoying leisure to game, maintaining our 170 yr old farmhouse and just living.
I love the terrain effects that you get with these outdoor games Ross. It helps you appreciate how even brightly uniformed troops can suddenly 'appear' out of a high crop, undulation or such.
ReplyDeleteAs the Red General, I made the mistake of not getting off my horse (so to speak) and was surprised when the Blue attackers on their right suddenly dropped out of sight as they climbed the hill then suddenly reappeared at close range only to drop into a gully giving good cover.
DeleteI need to work on my terrain inside!
The Dominion look well dug in - looks like you had a fun Saturday
ReplyDeleteThey thought so.
DeleteI really like the look of the fence outdoors. Still far too wet to venture forth with figures. The basing would turn to mush as it sucked up the water sponge like.
ReplyDeleteI'm envious. We were only a week or so from drought in late June when we got a few light showers.
