Well, its Sunday and I'd run out of excuses and distractions so I got back to my 1/2 painted Hat ACW unit.
Hat 1/72 ACW Flag by warflag.com |
The trousers came out a little darker than intended but they'll blend in well with my veterans. With a better chair and a couple of good night's sleep, they were faster and easier to paint than my first go and will blend into my existing armies quite well.

I think the next unit will join the Rebs
Ready for the battle...and superb!
ReplyDeleteMerci Phil!
DeleteThey look grand Ross, nice work.
ReplyDeleteVery, very nice!
ReplyDeleteThanks Matt.
DeleteSuppliers never could properly work to specs!
ReplyDeleteMaybe if their customers would agree and all want the same thing but where would be the fun in that?
DeleteNice figures Ross
ReplyDeleteI hope they sell well pour encourager les autres.
DeleteThey match well with the veterans .
ReplyDeleteWell enough for me.
DeleteI followed these through the design and production process, they were clearly going to be a good set of figures. I actually prefer these to the '15mm' Warlord plastics in terms of accuracy, I must grab myself some :) Don't mean to be pedantic about the Warlords, probably my time spent serving in the 42nd Pennsylvania 'Bucktails' re enactment unit over here :)
ReplyDeleteSo much evidence, so lost on manufacturers.
DeleteSorry Ross, meant to say, very well painted :)
ReplyDelete:) Thanks. To be honest I wasn't sure that I still had even this level in me.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding work, Ross. As my other nerd hobby still sees me re-enacting with the 28th Pennsylvania, these as very nice figures, indeed.
ReplyDeleteEric
Thanks Eric, do you want to be the Colonel? Or should I just name one of the privates after you?
DeleteVery nice. The buttons set them off very well. As models I prefer the Airfix. Are they conversions or Rebs painted blue, because I don’t remember Airfix Union infantry in slouch hats?
ReplyDeleteGalvanized Rebs. I have a fair number of rebs in kepis as well. Most of my own Airfix are the 1980s rerelease by......mental block on the company name. My own originals having been donated to the Montreal club. But I also have even more originals painted by other Halifax gamers last century which found their way to me a few years ago courtesy of an old, well, long time friend who had been the latest in a line of custodians.
DeleteInspected and passed with flying colours! Beautifully painted Ross.
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
Thanks, quick & easy wargaming style, a bit 20thC but its what I do.
