We Need More Men!

It was obvious during the last game that I needed more American units. (I had to recycle the first four US units that were broken).

"Hey guys, I think we're back home in 1812"

I plan to cast more of the infantry and militia in grey which are my own figures but I also want more Scrubies. Ironically most of my Scruby US figures were converted for my 1837 alternate Aroostock game which was played at Huzzah in 2011. (Wait! That was 10 years ago!?)

My Aroostock War ahistorical game at  Huzzah 2011 blog post

Well, some of those 1840's Americans are surplus again, some in grey, and I had enough of my 1812 pattern US shako heads in the spares chest, so with some sawing, drilling, and gluing, there's one additional unit ready for a paint touch up. Once the weather moderates I'll do some more casting.

    1. I strongly suspect that this was one of the ranges sculpted by Ericson for Scruby.

  2. Excellent looking figures Ross, I can't wait to see them finished. I too love Jack Scruby figures. I did not know that Ericson did sculpts for him, very interesting! Thank you for that great information! That paddle-wheeler in the second picture is awesome!

    1. I'm not an expert on any of this. HE's style is recognizeable in some of the 40 & 54mm figures which look alot like some SAE figs. The actual Scruby ones are different, not quite the same movement.(imo of course)

    1. Thanks, just left overs from more than a decade ago but I'm very happy to have another reason to use them.

  4. Did Mr. Scruby sculpt any 30mm SYW figures by chance?

    Best Regards,

    1. Just the Tricorne(AWI) range but the Hessians would fit in to a European setting. They can be found under Classic 30mm Scruby on the Historifigs site. The only samples I've seen are a few rangers and indians (for pics of mine see: Scruby Rangers

    1. You missed Huzzah by a few years. I loved the battlefield at Chippewa, there's a sign with a map misaligned by 90° which indicates the battle was fought on the field where the woods are now and the woods then are where the field is now. Ah. OK.

  7. Nice to see the pictures from the Aroostook War. But it's also nice to see more 1812 Doodles forming up, too.

  8. The Aroostock thing started out as Upper Candian Rebellion/Patriot Hunters getting out of hand till Huzzah! was announced and it seemed appropriate to relicate it to Maine.

  9. Well the Scrubies need to be Veteran or Guard status by now!

  10. That 'blast from the past' is a beautiful looking game Ross. I especially like the look of the paddle steamer.
