After 3 years of missed gaming conventions due to COVID and border restrictions, this May, the (not yet Royal) Marines and I are going to Britanny, the West Indies and....... to Portland, Maine, for Huzzah!
At last, 2x8 companies of 1790's Marines ready to go. |
I plan to register 2 games when it opens. Both will be set during the French Revolution, using the current two sides of a page version of "A Whiff of Dice" (was going to be "With MacDuff to the Frontier" but if often takes too long to play to a finish in a multi-player game at a convention).
One will be the twice tested raid on the coast of Brittany:
A play test last August with real live, in person, friends: (see blogpost) |
The other will be a slightly larger, more complicated, multi-player, version of the solo West Indies game I played in July.
July's Solo game |
Well, I have WORK to do!
HUZZAH!!!
Both look splendid and a return to the normality of wargaming events is just a heart warming hing.
ReplyDeleteIt's been slow and jerky for me but each step is welcome.
DeleteGreat that 'normal service' is being renewed
ReplyDeleteAmen!
DeleteThe Marines are great - perhaps a conversion to a young Nelson is in order?
ReplyDeleteMy mother used to point out that she had Hamilton blood on her mother's side, so a tempting idea, but he was already an admiral when these lads will be hitting the beach. I will instead stick with the young Lt Tootler.
DeleteThe game, the marines and rules all look great. Fond memories of my time as a Representative of the People shooting the Republican brigadier who tried unsuccessfully to stop a similar landing.
ReplyDeleteI remember that game! or at least that moment and the poor player's expression of disbelief. A sort of 15mm mini-mapcampaign with 3 beaches to defend each to be laid out as a game if the Brits/Allies landed. Can't remember the outcome, just the moment!
