Don't you hate it when

you've been planning to do something and not quite gotten around to it and then....

remember that 54mm Dorset catalog and my determination to stick with my 40mm figures?  Well have a gander at:

lbb16 highlander charging
New Spencer-Smith Shiny Toy Soldier Little Britain's 42mm Highlander body. Just like I was going to make except this one has better sculpting and better mold making.

Anyone want to buy a spin caster and vulcanizer?

Sighhhhhhhhhh  .

    1. Its a great approach. Easy for customizing and converting. When I first dabbled in toy soldiers, Soldierpac provided me a similar but even wider offering in the original 54mm Britain's.

  2. Don't be too hard on yourself, as you're not a full-time professional figure sculptor :-)

Still plenty of gaps? Especially under the very broad heading of 'natives', plus various types of civilians, militia and irregulars, not to mention equipment.

    1. Steve, not being hard on myself, just commenting on the apparent quality of the new figures and lamenting the waste of money in having bought the spin caster 7 years ago and not yet having even found space to set it up and try due mostly to life changes albeit crossed with not focusing on 1 thing at a time. Money that could have bought more new figures from someone else than I could paint! Since I still have more than 100 lbs of white metal in ingots, I shall press on!

  3. Hi Ross,

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear....;-)

These look REALLY tempting and probably more than mortal man can resist.

Time to take stock methinks. AGAIN!

    All the best,

    1. One could see HG Wells finding some inspiration in them........

  5. Ross,
I have admired Aly Morrison's Shiny Toy Soldiers ever since they came out. Pricey for me, so as you know, I made my own. This scale and this style are my absolute all time favorite. I just don't tire of it. I hope to add a few of Aly's figures to my armies just for fun...some special units. Stay with the 40's. I've been working on 1914 French and Germans and my great European War of 1850 stuff. Your Crimean Russian is very nice.
    cheers, John

  6. Thanks John, I just need to shrink the Russian to 40mm. I'm too deep into the 40's to turn the clock back and start again.

Hopefully this year life will settle down and I can get back to sculpting and try out the vulcanizer to see if I can get some clearer castings.
