EXERT FROM APPENDIX 1 from Don Featherstone's Battles With Model Soldiers
(The book that got me started.)

"Nothing in these pages is a dictate, no word says you must or you shall do it this way. On the contrary, the book sets out from the very beginning to stimulate the reader to think for himself, and to use what he has read merely as a foundation for efforts and ideas which reflect his own temperament and character. Only in this way will he obtain maximum satisfaction from the hobby of battling with model soldiers."

Pomp and Circumstance

One from the archives

After weeks of dodging the hype, I made the mistake of turning on the TV this morning. I fear I am in danger of becoming sentimental in my middle age! But, best wishes to the Kate and William.

 'Nuff said.

  5. Personally I feel there should be at least one "Royalty? Bah!" from an ex-colonial. OK, from an anarchist.
But I sincerely wish well any couple with enough gumption to brave matrimony. When they come by for a visit, the first round's on me. Cheers!

  6. Hmmm well, I'll confess that I have my doubts on the appropriateness of watery tarts distributing swords as a system for choosing governments though I did once swear allegiance to the happy groom's father's mother.
Still nothing like young love eh? esp when backed up by bearskins and cuirassiers.
